the creative work of
Alaina Carnahan

"Alaina's beautiful photo 'Red Glow Lily' brings brightness and the feeling of spring to my office. I like how she used unconventional sunlight to capture it... I am honored to display her artistic skill in my office for all Hoosiers to see."

Artist Statement
Working in two-dimensional media, most work celebrates everyday life. This representational artwork derives itself from years observation as a photojournalist and event photographer as well as an education balanced in fine art and the social sciences. Depicting common spaces, interactions, and recognizable objects draws in viewers who may not consider themselves arts enthusiasts. Conveying the essence of flora, traditions or nostalgic imagery, typically quite palatable to folks of every social class and education level, connects us by way of emotion. Growing up rural, small town and ag influences runs deep. Currently her work found in festivals focuses on scenes and objects that elicit appreciation of the everyday. Print on demand, functional pieces are a bit more whimsical with a touch of humor.
